Whether you choose to explore the gleaming metropolitan cities or venture through the desert to experience the wild side of the UAE, the country offers a rewarding stay, be it for leisure, business, or work, with an easily obtained UAE or Dubai visit visa online.

While the UAE never leaves an opportunity to stand out in the crowd, it has added a new record to its list by having the most powerful travel document in the world.

Passport UAE

This was recently confirmed by Arton Capital's Passport Index, which featured a top-ten list dominated by European countries.

Major Highlights of the UAE Ranked #1 in the Passport Index Ranking
  • The UAE passport hits the top rank in the latest passport ranking for having the most powerful passports in the world.
  • Individuals holding a UAE passport can travel to 174 countries without the need for a visa.
  • A UAE passport holder can get a visa on arrival in almost 59 countries.
  • A visa with a UAE passport is needed for only 19 countries.

Travel to over 174 destinations with the need of availing a visa

The passport index ranking compares the visa-free scheme of 199 passports to 227 travel destinations, and according to the newly released data, UAE passport holders can access 174 countries and 228 countries either without a visa or with a visa on arrival.

The Arton Capital, a Montreal-based citizenship advisory firm speaks about the United Arab Emirates passport being the world’s number one due to its mobility and freedom from a travel destination. The overall population of the UAE is around 10 million, out of which 90 per cent are foreign ex-pats!

"Global mobility is rapidly rising, despite the eruption of conflict in Europe and growing tensions over borders," Arton said in a news statement. "Though the world continues to feel the aftershocks of the pandemic, surprisingly, travelling has never been easier, with steady growth in passport power across the board, a trend that we predict will continue into 2023."

With the UAE passport, travellers can even access seven more European countries, including Germany, Sweden, Finland, and Luxembourg, and nine more than Japan, whose travel document was listed as the best passport in the world earlier this year in a list published by Henley & Partners, while the Asian country ranks 24 on Arton’s index with easy access to 171 countries.

Mobility Score of the UAE

Throughout the pandemic, the UAE stayed away from the large-scale lockdowns seen around the world instead of relying on strict regulation and inoculations. The UAE government handled the pandemic so well that it drew visitors from all over the world seeking refuge from their home countries.

Today, the UAE passport ranking earned a mobility score of 174, given based on its visa-free and visa on arrival policies with other countries. UAE passport holders can additionally enter 13 more countries in comparison to the second-ranked German passport. Several reforms, changes, and improvements have been implemented in the UAE over the last few years, resulting in a successful influx of visitors.

Moreover, the UAE introduced a remote worker visa while normalising its relations with Israel. It has not broken travel ties with Belarus and Russia as per the war with Ukraine, making it a highly desirable destination in the world. The country also made several agreements with different countries and made major investments, leading to an increase in immigration and a property boom in Dubai, the gleaming capital of the United Arab Emirates.

Over 1.5 million people are holding a UAE passport. The country has a low crime rate and world-class facilities to enjoy making it one of the most sought-after destinations in the world.
