Though such a visa is commonly known as a Dubai transit permit, the visa issued is officially called a UAE transit visa. The permit for Dubai transit visa emirates is valid throughout the UAE.

Types of transit visas for Dubai

Dubai airport transit visas are of two types. You can apply for them depending on the length of your layover period. Here are the types of Dubai transit visas:

48-hour transit visa

A 48-hour transit visa permits the holder to stay in Dubai for 48 hours. This means travellers whose layover is between eight and 48 hours can apply for such a visa. It is a single-entry transit visa, and you can go for a Dubai transit visa apply online process prior to entering the country.

96-hour transit visa

Dubai Transit Visa Requirements

Obtain the following documents:

  1. Your original passport valid for at least six months. It must have at least two blank pages.
  2. Two recently clicked passport-size photographs against a white background
  3. An onward flight booking to a different connecting flight than the one from which you are departing.

While the 48-hour transit visa is free, the 96-hour transit visa costs AED 50 (subject to change). This takes around three to five business days to process the application.
